Miss Welsey Reunion:

KENICIA REID

On a bright calm Sunday afternoon in April of a then reunion year 1988, Neva and Garfield Reid gave birth to a beautiful baby girl named Kenicia Reid.

It would then be appropriate to deem me a reunion baby. Though born in the capital City Roseau at the main hospital, PMH, my childhood and my youthful days were spent in Wesley my dear home. At a tender age of two I began preschool at the then Social Center Preschool under the leadership of Ms. June Joseph affectionately called Teacher June. Two years later I started elementary school at our very own Wesley Primary School. My years there I recall to be warm yet a challenging experience. At age eleven I completed my primary school education and achieved a bursary at the common entrance examination, placing second in my school and the second of the only three bursaries attained. That very year I, started high school at none other than our dear St. Andrews high. My experience there will live in me forever. My drive for better learning and higher education influenced me to start college the same year doing a double major in accounting and economics prior to obtaining 8 subjects at CXC's. Upon college completion I had my initial job at Sat Telecoms as a journalist however I soon moved on to Clear Harbor as a CAE where I've been over the past year. In my community, I was an active member of my church's youth group for a number of years before going out into the working world. I actively pursue avenues to further my studies in economics in the near future. In the mean time and spear time I enjoy singing, dancing, hanging with my friends and of course being a robin by blood having a hell of a good time. Participating in this competition I hope to bring confidence and great self-esteem to the young women of my community. Helping them in establishing their full potential and have greater belief in God and most of all them selves. With all that being said bringing the entire community together in love and most of all happiness for reunion 2008.

Name: Roxanne Wallace
D.O.B: 28 June 1991
Height: 5.4”

I was born and raised in the small agricultural village of Wesley . I attended the Wesley Pentecostal Preschool, Wesley Primary, St. Andrews High and I am currently completing my last year of secondary education at Northeastern Eastern Comprehensive High School .

While growing up, I witnessed my aunt, Nurse Melissa Telemaque and her aunt, Nurse Collete Telemacque help to heal the sick and injured. Hence my aspirations to one become a nurse.

I feel I am very fortunate to have been born and raised in Wesley because I was able to experience the locality and togetherness that small villages create.

I am particularly passionate about the performing arts. I am a member of the Wesley Dance Group which specializes in creative and cultural dances. Also, as member of the Cadet Core, I've gained discipline, respect and self confidence. Attributes which I am eager to teach and share with other young adults.

Let it be known, I am not merely another pretty face, but a determined young lady who never settles for second best.

This was such a great experience for me, I learnt a lot about my race and where we all come from. I love dancing to soca, dancehall, and some reggae. I read books that are non-fiction (true) and the daily newspaper. I'm very fun to be around, love making new friends and making people laugh, just enjoying my life. I did a little bit of modeling. Those like Oprah and Martin Luther King Jr. I take life seriously, am self- determine and strive towards self independence, I've been living on my own and doing things for my self for about 2 years or more. I learn from my aunt Ingrid a very vigorous woman, she raised me all by herself with no help, even when times were h
